‘We just wanted to do something nice’: Man surprised with free bike from neighbors

A 50-year-old South Carolina man recently received a very special gift from his friends.When Greenville pickleball players learned that Kevin Smith — who they befriended at the park and has special needs — needed a new bike, they pooled their money and got him a new ride.”Kevin just befriended all of us, and he has never been unkind to anyone,” said Rosalyn Western, a pickleball player who helped organize the gifts. “And he shows up in the morning and the night he’s just always hanging out with the group and giving hugs and so we just wanted to do something nice.”Along with the new bike, the group gave Smith some pickleball gear, including a paddle and his own pickle ball.”Thank you very much for everything!” Smith said.
