Vegetation fire sparks up near Camp Roberts in south Monterey county Sunday afternoon

A fire sparked up in south Monterey County near Camp Roberts Sunday afternoon. Cal Fire BEU says it is a vegetation fire on East Garrison Road near Highway 101.It started around 4 p.m. As of 5 p.m. Sunday evening it has grown to 50 acres and is burning to the southeast in the Salinas River. Traffic has been stopped on Highway 101 in the area due to smoke. Cal Fire has responded with firefighting aircraft.
