Solid debut for Salinas graduate Jeff Weimer at UNLV

Former Salinas High receiver Jeff Weimer made his debut for the University of Las Vegas football team, catching five passes for 74 yards in a season opening win over Idaho State.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound redshirt junior finished as the Rebels second leading receiver in catches and yards, averaging just under 15 yards a reception.

Weimer, who earned All-American status last season for state champion City College of San Francisco, began his collegiate career at Hartnell.

During his senior season at Salinas in 2017, Weimer caught 56 passes for just under 800 yards and 10 touchdowns, helping them to a Central Coast Section Division I title.
