SF Giants-Dodgers: Kruk & Kuip hit radio booth with NLDS on national TV

The KNBR radio booth is going to be a little crowded this weekend at Oracle Park when the Giants host the Dodgers for the first two games of their NL Divisional Series.

With the postseason games heading to national TV rather than NBC Sports Bay Area, Mike Krukow and Duane Kuiper will be joining Jon Miller and Dave Flemming to make a four-man radio broadcast for Game 1 Friday night and Game 2 Saturday night between the NL West rivals. It’s a familiar setup as Kruk & Kuip have joined the radio cast in the past for playoff games when there’s no local TV broadcast.

The four broadcasters haven’t been strangers since the Giants last made the playoffs, though. Miller and Flemming eat up innings on the TV broadcast during regular-season home games.

Krukow and Kuiper will not travel to Dodger Stadium for Monday’s Game 3 or Tuesday’s Game 4 due to health concerns. But Miller and Flemming will make the trek south, marking the first time outside of spring training that Giants announcers will travel to cover the team since the end of the 2019 season, as both TV and radio broadcasts have been based at Oracle Park during the pandemic.

The four-man booth will return for Game 5 if the series gets that far.

On the televised call for TBS, Brian Anderson, Ron Darling and Lauren Shehadi will provide a national perspective, but inventive Giants fans looking for familiar voices can mute their TVs and try to sync up the radio call.
