COOLING TREND BEGINS TODAY THAT WILL BRING RELIEF TO THE INTERIOR REGIONS LATER IN THE WEEK. MODERATE CONDITIONS WILL PREVAIL CLOSER TO THE WATERS. THE MARINE LAYER WILL REMAIN ENTRENCHED ALONG THE COAST WITH ASSOCIATED LOW CLOUDS AND PATCHY FOG PROGRESSING LOCALLY INLAND AROUND THE BAYS AND INTO THE VALLEYS NIGHT AND MORNING HOURS. AT THE SURFACE, SEEING ANOTHER ROUND OF STRATUS HUGGING THE COASTLINE. INLAND COVERAGE OF STRATUS TONIGHT IS LESS EXPANSIVE COMPARED TO THE PREVIOUS 2 NIGHTS. WHILE THE ONSHORE PUSH HOLDS STEADY, STRATUS ISNúT MAKING ITS WAY FURTHER INLAND LIKELY DUE TO AN INCREASED NORTHERLY (SFO-ACV) GRADIENT, WHICH IS CURRENTLY AT -3.6 MB COMPARED TO -1.0 MB 24 HOURS AGO. THE MARINE LAYER HAS ALSO COMPRESSED A FEW HUNDRED FEET COMPARED TO LAST NIGHT AND IS CURRENTLY SITTING AT 500-900 FEET PER THE FORT ORD AND BODEGA BAY PROFILERS. THESE TWO FACTORS HAVE LIKELY CONTRIBUTED TO THE LIMITED THE COVERAGE OF STRATUS TONIGHT. A PUSH OF COOLER AIR FROM ALOFT WILL START A COOLING TREND AT THE SURFACE, BRINGING NEEDED RELIEF TO REGIONS IN THE INTERIOR. THIS ALSO MEANS THAT THE MARINE LAYER MAY STRUGGLE TO WEEK AS THE TEMPERATURE INVERSION FROM THE SURFACE TO 850 MB WILL NOT BE AS STRONG. WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY.. AS PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED, TEMPERATURES WILL START TO COOL DOWN FOR INTERIOR REGIONS. BY THURSDAY, MAX TEMPS INLAND WILL RANGE TROUGH MAKING ITS WAY TO THE AREA. BY THE WEEKEND, MAX TEMPS WILL RANGE FROM UPPER 60S AT THE COAST TO 80S FARTHER INLAND.
