MPC names all-decade track and field teams

Steve Dorsey heads the Monterey Peninsula College all-decade men’s track and field team, earning a spot as a high jumper and dethalete.

Dorsey, who prepped at Monterey High and also played basketball at MPC, piled up 6,759 points in the decathlon in 2013 to set a school record.

Also landing on the team were sprinters Cordell Reed and Kevin Telford, jumper Isaiah Brown, throwers John Irving, Steve McEnroe and Tyron Trout-Lacey, pole vaulter Nicholas Pfieffer and distance runner Caleb Llorin-Hernandez.

Jayla Scholis, who earned a ride to Cal after one year at MPC, anchors the women’s all-decade team, having dominated the 100 and 200 for MPC, placing in the state meet in both, as well as the 400 and 1,600 relays.

North County graduate BreAnn Scally gathered spots in the 100 hurdles and heptathlon, where she set a Lobos school record with 4,419 points in 2016.

Tenisha Hill and Dominique Roan were named to the team in the jumps, as were Latoya Allen and Nathalie Robinson in the throws, and Phoebe Stokes in the distance events.
