TEMPERATURES PREVAIL TODAY WITH SLIGHT COOLING TOWARDS MID WEEK. KING TIDES WILL BRING NUISANCE FLOODING TO COASTAL AREAS THROUGH LATE WEEK. MODEST WARMING RETURNS BY LATE WEEK INTO THE WEEKEND. OUR AREA WILL BE ON THE WESTERN PERIPHERY OF A STOUT MID-LEVEL ANTICYCLONE CENTERED OVER THE FOUR CORNERS REGION. MEANWHILE THERMAL LOW PRESSURE WILL CENTER OVER THE DESERT SOUTHWEST WITH SURFACE RIDGING OVER THE EASTERN PACIFIC. THIS PATTERN WILL PROMOTE WARM THERMAL ADVECTION THROUGH THE LOW LEVELS WITH 850 MB TEMPERATURES CLIMBING TO BETWEEN 22 AND 25 DEGREES CELSIUS BY THIS EVENING. WITH SUFFICIENT BOUNDARY LAYER MIXING LOOK FOR SURFACE READINGS TO TOP OUT IN THE 90S TO LOWER 100S ACROSS FAR EASTERN PORTIONS OF THE AREA, WITH A COMPRESSED MARINE LAYER PROVIDING SOME RELIEF CLOSER TO THE COAST AND BAYS. EVEN SO THESE AREAS SHOULD STILL REACH THE 70S TO AROUND 80 BEFORE THE SEA BREEZE KICKS IN. COASTAL CLOUDS AND PATCHY FOG ARE EXPECTED WITH THE SHALLOW MARINE LAYER ALONG THE IMMEDIATE COAST BOTH THIS MORNING AND AGAIN TONIGHT. AIR QUALITY MODEL TRAJECTORIES AND HRRR VERTICALLY INTEGRATED SMOKE FORECASTS SUGGEST THAT SMOKE FROM THE WASHBURN FIRE MAY REACH PORTIONS OF THE NORTH AND EAST BAYS TODAY GIVEN ANTICYCLONIC FLOW AROUND THE UPPER RIDGE. HOWEVER THIS SMOKE APPEARS TO REMAIN ALOFT SO THE MOST LIKELY FORECAST OUTCOME SHOULD BE JUST A LITTLE HAZINESS TO THE SKY. TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY: THE UPPER RIDGE SHOULD ERODE SLIGHTLY OVER OUR AREA IN RESPONSE TO UPSTREAM TROUGHING OVER NORCAL AND THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. THIS WILL BRING STRENGTHENING ONSHORE FLOW AND SLIGHT COOLING FOR INTERIOR AREAS. THAT SAID IT SHOULD STILL FEEL RATHER SUMMER- LIKE WITH UPPER 80S AND 90S IN THE USUAL WARMER SPOTS. COASTAL AREAS WILL REMAIN A BIT COOLER IN THE 60S AND 70S. GIVEN A DEEPER MARINE LAYER EXPECT MORE OVERNIGHT/MORNING INLAND PENETRATION OF LOW CLOUDS AND FOG WITH GRADUAL CLEARING BACK TOWARDS THE COAST EACH AFTERNOON. LOWS SHOULD BE MOSTLY IN THE 50S. FRIDAY THROUGH MONDAY: WE SHOULD REMAIN BETWEEN MEAN TROUGHING ACROSS THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST AND STRONG RIDGING CENTERED OVER THE FOUR CORNERS REGION. THIS PATTERN MAY PRODUCE A SLIGHT WARMING TREND FOR INLAND AREAS, BUT CONFIDENCE IN SUBSTANTIAL HEATING OR INCREASED HEATRISK IS LOW. TEMPERATURES ALONG THE COAST AND BAYS PERSISTENT MARINE LAYER AND ONSHORE FLOW.
