Both Nicki Minaj and Lorde dropped MAJOR truth bombs on fans and have since revealed that they will no longer be performing during the 2021 MTV VMAs. But we have some exciting news about Normani! Let’s break it all down.  In a surprising turn of events, Nicki Minaj just revealed to her fans that she won’t be performing during this year’s MTV VMAs coming up this Sunday September 12th.  She relayed the news to fans in a tweet shared on Thursday while responding to a curious fan, writing QUOTE, “I just pulled out. I’ll explain why another day. But I love those guys at MTV. Thank you Bruce. I love you so much. Next year we there baby.” The news comes as a shock for multiple reasons, including the fact that a performance or appearance hadn’t yet been confirmed by her or MTV in the first place. Another reason why fans are surprised by the news is because she’s been actively teasing new music on social media, having just shared a snippet of an unreleased track earlier this week. So clearly it seems there were plans for her to be making a surprise performance come Sunday night, but lo and behold, Nicki isn’t the only performer who has dropped out this week. On Friday, the official VMAs Twitter account revealed that Lorde would no longer be in attendance, citing “a change in production elements,” adding QUOTE, “We love Lorde and cannot wait for her to perform on the VMA stage in the future!” Lorde has since opened up more about her decision to pull out, and per People, assured fans that she was “totally fine.”
