PEBBLE BEACH — If you are going to isolate during a pandemic, having an 8,000-square-foot home on two-plus acres of land with an ocean view in Pebble Beach to hunker down in seems cozy.
Assuming, of course, you have $28 million to spare.
Apparently, someone did as the purchase of this Spanish-Mediterranean property is the second-highest priced home ever to sell in Pebble Beach.
“The desire for more space and less densely populated areas has increased the demand for Pebble Beach and Carmel homes,” said Tim Allen of properties for Coldwell Banker Realty.
While the home is visible along 17 Mile Drive, along with a view of the world-renowned 18th hole at Pebble Beach Golf Links, it is surrounded by Monterey pines with a Pacific Ocean sunset to the west.
“More people appreciate its ideal settings and variety of lifestyle comforts and activities, from golfing resorts to the stunning coastline,” Allen said.
Located on Pescadero Point, and one of 31 waterfront properties in Pebble Beach, the design of this dwelling offers vantage viewpoints of Carmel Beach, Carmel Valley and Point Lobos.
Originally listed at $33 million, the home has four ocean-view suite bedrooms, all with their own full bathrooms, with an open living room that leads to the main terrace and kitchen.
Dark wooden floors cover portions of the home, where the views through the windows that surround the back of the house give you the feeling that you’re floating on top of the ocean while glancing at the mountains in the horizon.
Vaulted ceilings greet you as you enter, while Roman-style columns sit in the living room, as well as skylights overhead, providing natural lighting.
Inside this luxurious home is a library and a 200-foot wine cellar, as well as a dressing room next to the master bedroom that’s as large as most of the bedrooms.
A detached guest house sits adjacent to the home, nestled in the woods, along with a zero-edge infinity pool that also provides breathtaking views of the ocean and golf course.
While 100 plus-year-old trees provide privacy in the front of the home along 17 Mile Drive, the back of this residence sits near the edge of the ocean as waves crash up against the rocks below.
“The sale of this magnificent home is a great way to end this year and we’re very happy that its new homeowners will enjoy all of its splendor,” Allen said.
Natural vegetation surrounds the back of this single-story home, while deer often cascade along the properties in Pebble Beach. A 750-foot three-car garage sits next to an entertainment center room that leads to the pool.
With the guest house, there are 8,862 square feet of living space on 2.02 acres. This is the highest-priced house sold in Pebble Beach in seven years, according to Coldwell Banker public relations specialist Gabriela Ruiz.
The new owners will be among a handful of homes near the golf course that can catch a glimpse of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am from their backyards.
