Hollister lottery player wins $5 million from scratcher

TIME NOW TO TAKE A LOOK AT THIS MORNING’S TOP STORIES.. THE WASHBURN FIRE IN YOSEMITE HAS BEEN QUICKLY GROWING… IT’S THREATENING HUNDREDS OF GIANT SEQUOIAS. OVER THE WEEKEND, IT GREW TO OVER 400- ACRES… TRIGGERING EVACUATIONS. CREWS ARE RESORTING TO A SPRINKLER SYSTEM TO PROTECT THE AREA. NEARLY 5-HUNDRED AND 50 PEOPLE ARE WORKING ON CONTAINMENT. ### CAL FIRE CREWS IN MONTEREY COUNTY TOOK THE WEEKEND TO TRAIN FOR A WILDFIRE… THE CARMEL HIGHLANDS, PEBBLE BEACH, AND CYPRESS FIRE DISTRICTS CAME TOGETHER TO FOCUS ON MULTI-COMPANY DRILLS. THEY SAY GETTING CREWS FROM DIFFERENT STATIONS TOGETHER… HELPS THE TEAMS PREPARE FOR AN ACTUAL EMERGENCY. ## THE ELECTRA FIRE IN AMADOR COUNTY IS NOW 80-PERCENT CONTAINED. ALL EVACUATIONS WERE LIFTED, AND THE RED CROSS SHELTER WILL CLOSE TODAY. THERE WILL ALSO BE DUMPSTERS MADE AVAILABLE FOR ANYONE IN THE EVACUATION ZONE WHO NEEDS THEM DUE TO IMPACTS LIKE POWER OUTAGES SPOILING FOOD. NO HOMES WERE DAMAGED IN THE FIRE. THE FIRE HAS BURNED NEARLY 45- HUNDRED ACRES SINCE IT SPARKED JULY FOURTH… THE CAUSE IS UNDER INVESTIGATION. ## SANTA CRUZ SHAKESPEARE IS PREPARING FOR THEIR SUMMER FESTIVAL AND WILL BE BACK AT FULL CAPACITY. THEY WILL PREFORM TWELTH NIGHT AND THE TEMPEST THIS SEASON. THEY ARE ALSO GOING TO HAVE A WORLD PREMIERE OF A PLAY WRITTEN BY KATHRYN CHETKOVICH WHO IS FROM SANTA CRUZ. THE PLAY IS CALLED “THE FORMULA” AND A PREVIEW WAS HELD SUNDAY. THE PLAY IS INSPIRED BY “A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM” ## YOUR SUNRISE TIME IS óóóóóóóóóóó. TIME TO TAKE A LOOK AT WEATHER WITH METEOROLOGIST GINA DE VECCHIO. WARMER TEMPERATURES PREVAIL TODAY WITH SLIGHT COOLING TOWARDS MID WEEK. KING TIDES WILL BRING NUISANCE FLOODING TO COASTAL AREAS THROUGH LATE WEEK. MODEST WARMING RETURNS BY LATE WEEK INTO THE WEEKEND. OUR AREA WILL BE ON THE WESTERN PERIPHERY OF A STOUT MID-LEVEL ANTICYCLONE CENTERED OVER THE FOUR CORNERS REGION. MEANWHILE THERMAL LOW PRESSURE WILL CENTER OVER THE DESERT SOUTHWEST WITH SURFACE RIDGING OVER THE EASTERN PACIFIC. THIS PATTERN WILL PROMOTE WARM THERMAL ADVECTION THROUGH THE LOW LEVELS WITH 850 MB TEMPERATURES CLIMBING TO BETWEEN 22 AND 25 DEGREES CELSIUS BY THIS EVENING. WITH SUFFICIENT BOUNDARY LAYER MIXING LOOK FOR SURFACE READINGS TO TOP OUT IN THE 90S TO LOWER 100S ACROSS FAR EASTERN PORTIONS OF THE AREA, WITH A COMPRESSED MARINE LAYER PROVIDING SOME RELIEF CLOSER TO THE COAST AND BAYS. EVEN SO THESE AREAS SHOULD STILL REACH THE 70S TO AROUND 80 BEFORE THE SEA BREEZE KICKS IN. COASTAL CLOUDS AND PATCHY FOG ARE EXPECTED WITH THE SHALLOW MARINE LAYER ALONG THE IMMEDIATE COAST BOTH THIS MORNING AND AGAIN TONIGHT. AIR QUALITY MODEL TRAJECTORIES AND HRRR VERTICALLY INTEGRATED SMOKE FORECASTS SUGGEST THAT SMOKE FROM THE WASHBURN FIRE MAY REACH PORTIONS OF THE NORTH AND EAST BAYS TODAY GIVEN ANTICYCLONIC FLOW AROUND THE UPPER RIDGE. HOWEVER THIS SMOKE APPEARS TO REMAIN ALOFT SO THE MOST LIKELY FORECAST OUTCOME SHOULD BE JUST A LITTLE HAZINESS TO THE SKY. TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY: THE UPPER RIDGE SHOULD ERODE SLIGHTLY OVER OUR AREA IN RESPONSE TO UPSTREAM TROUGHING OVER NORCAL AND THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. THIS WILL BRING STRENGTHENING ONSHORE FLOW AND SLIGHT COOLING FOR INTERIOR AREAS. THAT SAID IT SHOULD STILL FEEL RATHER SUMMER- LIKE WITH UPPER 80S AND 90S IN THE USUAL WARMER SPOTS. COASTAL AREAS WILL REMAIN A BIT COOLER IN THE 60S AND 70S. GIVEN A DEEPER MARINE
