A Greenfield police officer has been placed on administrative leave after the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office announced an investigation into his conduct. According to the Greenfield Police Department, on June 10 an arrest warrant was issued for Officer Tapia for assault charges. Tapia turned himself in to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office. “The allegations against Officer Tapia are deeply unsettling. However, we trust and have faith in the judicial system to conduct a thorough investigation, resulting in the appropriate outcome. In the meantime, we will continue to cooperate with the District Attorney’s Office as they proceed with their investigation,” wrote Acting Chief Guillermo Mixer on Facebook. Greenfield PD also reported that they have begun their own internal investigation into Tapia. This is a developing story, stay with KSBW 8 for the latest.
