DANGEROUS HEAT THROUGH EARLY NEXT WEEK… DANGEROUS HEAT IS EXPECTED THROUGH EARLY NEXT WEEK. MANY FAR INTERIOR LOCATIONS ARE LIKELY TO NEAR OR EXCEED 100 DEGREES ON SUNDAY AND MONDAY. PREPARE FOR THE HEAT AND PRACTICE HEAT SAFETY. DANGEROUS HEAT FROM TOMORROW THROUGH EARLY NEXT WEEK. INCREASED RISK FOR HEAT-RELATED ILLNESSES. EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING FOR INLAND AREAS; EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH FOR COASTAL AND BAYSIDE AREAS. PREPARE FOR THE HEAT AND PRACTICE HEAT SAFETY. TECHNICAL DISCUSSION- – TODAY AND TONIGHT: A WIDE RANGE IN TEMPERATURES THIS AFTERNOON WITH 60S TO LOWER 70S ALONG THE COAST, 70S TO LOWER 80S FOR THE NEAR- COASTAL VALLEYS, AND 90S FOR AREAS BORDERING THE SACRAMENTO VALLEY AND FOR INLAND PORTIONS OF THE CENTRAL COAST. TYPICALLY HOT SPOTS IN SAN BENITO AND SOUTHERN MONTEREY COUNTIES WILL LIKELY ECLIPSE THE CENTURY MARK. WEúLL SEE DECENT COOLING OVERNIGHT FOR MOST AREAS, ALTHOUGH THERMAL BELTS MAY ONLY DROP INTO THE 70S TO AROUND 80 FOR OVERNIGHT LOWS. THAT SAID, MORE POPULATED REGIONS SHOULD GENERALLY DROP INTO THE 50S TO AROUND 60. SO WHILE IT WILL BE WARM, WEúRE NOT QUITE INTO THE DANGEROUS TERRITORY FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC WITH REGARDS TO HEAT QUITE YET. HOWEVER THAT CHANGES IN THE COMING DAYS. SO WE ARE ENTERING INTO A PERIOD OF DANGEROUS HEAT BEGINNING ON THURSDAY FOR THE CENTRAL COAST AND EXPANDING TO THE REMAINDER OF THE BAY AREA THIS WEEKEND. AS FOR TIMING, THE GREATEST CONCERN FOR HEAT-RELATED IMPACTS BEGINS LATE THURSDAY MORNING FOR INLAND PORTIONS OF THE CENTRAL COAST, AND LATE SATURDAY MORNING FOR THE BAY AREA. THIS RISK THEN CONTINUES FOR ALL AREAS THROUGH EARLY NEXT WEEK. GRADUAL COOLING IS THEN EXPECTED TOWARDS THE MIDDLE PORTION OF NEXT WEEK. BY ALL ACCOUNTS THIS SHOULD BE A NOTABLE HEAT EVENT FROM BOTH A CLIMATOLOGICAL AND HEALTH IMPACT STANDPOINT. NOW I
