Cameron Norton to be enshrined into Canisius College Sports Hall of Fame

A stellar softball career at Canisius College is being rewarded for York School graduate Cameron Norton, who will be inducted on September 17 into the school’s Sports Hall of Fame.

Norton started every game (203) during her career as an infielder for the Buffalo-based Division I college, finishing in the Top 20 in 14 different categories between 2006-2009.

During her career, Canisius won 120 games, including a school record 39 in 2008. She helped the program to three NCAA Division I tournament appearances.

The 21st member from the softball program to be enshrined, Norton finished No. 4 all time in runs batted in (112), and seventh in defensive assists (308).

An all-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference first team selection in 2007, Norton was the MAAC Tournament MVP in 2009, and a three-time all-tournament selection.

Norton played one high school softball season for Santa Catalina in 2005, where she was named the Mission Trail Athletic League’s Most Valuable Player before returning to York for her senior year.

While playing for the Salinas Storm softball travel team, Norton started at catcher, helping the team win the American Softball Association Western National title in 2000.

Norton lives in Carmel Valley and works for the DoD at La Mesa Village, where she manages all the youth programs at the Tech Connection Tenn & Youth Center.
