1 arrested after equipment burglary at Alisal Community School

Some items were recovered after two people stole computer equipment from Alisal Community School, early Monday morning. Around 1:20 a.m., a security officer was called to the Alisal Community School on Del Monte Ave after a security alarm went off. The security guard arrived and saw two men run from the school carrying a large bag. Officers were dispatched to the area and confirmed that a classroom at the school had been broken into and multiple items of electronic equipment had been taken. Police found Aby Ortiz, 24, nearby. He was carrying a large bag of electronic equipment and was later identified as one of the people seen running from the school. The second alleged burglary was not arrested. Ortiz was found to be in possession of a BB gun and narcotics, he was booked into county jail facing burglary and possession of narcotics charges.The stolen property valued at several thousand dollars was returned to the school.
